Uninstalling
Uninstall from Settings → Apps and sales channels in your Shopify admin, the same as any other app.
Nothing is left in your theme
Section titled “Nothing is left in your theme”The press room renders through a Shopify app block, which Shopify stops rendering when the app is gone. No code was ever written into your theme files, so there is nothing to find and delete.
This is worth stating plainly, because apps that inject theme code are a common source of leftover markup that breaks months later.
What remains after uninstalling
Section titled “What remains after uninstalling”| Your press releases | Kept. Each is a press_release metaobject in your store, under Content → Metaobjects. |
| Your images | Kept, in Content → Files. |
| Your listing page | Kept — it’s a normal Shopify page. It will render without the releases, since the block no longer resolves. |
| Detail pages | Gone. /apps/press-release/<slug> stops resolving immediately. |
| The block on your page | Stops rendering. |
Tidy up afterwards
Section titled “Tidy up afterwards”Two things the uninstall can’t do for you:
- Remove or repurpose the listing page. Otherwise visitors find a page with a heading and nothing under it.
- Fix links to detail pages. Any
/apps/press-release/<slug>URL you circulated now 404s. If those links matter, set up redirects under Online Store → Navigation → URL Redirects.
Reinstalling
Section titled “Reinstalling”Your releases are still metaobjects in your store, so reinstalling picks them back up. You will need to re-add the block to your page and re-check Settings.
If you’re uninstalling because something’s broken
Section titled “If you’re uninstalling because something’s broken”Contact support first. The most common reason people give up is an empty listing page, which is usually the block not being added to the page they’re looking at — a two-minute fix. See Troubleshooting.
