Set up your press page
This is a one-time setup, and it is the step that catches people out: installing the app does not create a press page. You create one Shopify page and add the app’s block to it.
It takes about five minutes.
1. Create the page
Section titled “1. Create the page”In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Pages and add a page:
- Title:
Press Releases - URL handle:
press-releases - Content: leave it empty — the block provides the content.
Save.
2. Add the block in the theme editor
Section titled “2. Add the block in the theme editor”- Go to Online Store → Themes and click Customize.
- Using the page selector at the top of the editor, navigate to your new Press Releases page.
- Add the Press Releases app block to the section.
- Save.
Because it is a normal theme block, you can add other theme sections above and below it — an image banner, a contact form, whatever your theme offers. The block only controls its own area.
3. Tell the app where the page is
Section titled “3. Tell the app where the page is”Open Settings in the app and set the Listing page URL to /pages/press-releases.
This is what the “Back to Press Releases” link on each detail page points at. Get it wrong and that link sends visitors somewhere unexpected — it does not break anything else.
4. Check it as a visitor
Section titled “4. Check it as a visitor”Open these two URLs signed out, or in a private window:
| Listing | https://your-store.myshopify.com/pages/press-releases |
| Detail | https://your-store.myshopify.com/apps/press-release/<slug> |
If your store still has a password on the online store, you’ll need the password to view them.
What if my listing page is empty?
Section titled “What if my listing page is empty?”Most likely one of:
- No releases published yet. Add one — see Publish your first release.
- The block was not added, or was added on a different page than the one you’re viewing.
- Your only releases are dated in the future. The block hides future-dated releases by default. See Dates and scheduling.

Do I have to use /pages/press-releases?
Section titled “Do I have to use /pages/press-releases?”No. Any page handle works — use /pages/news or /pages/newsroom if that suits your store. Just set the same URL in the app’s Settings so the back-link matches.
The detail pages always live under /apps/press-release/ and cannot be moved.
