The detail page
Every release has a page at:
https://your-store.myshopify.com/apps/press-release/<slug>You don’t create these. They exist for every release automatically, and there is nothing to add in the theme editor.
It renders inside your theme
Section titled “It renders inside your theme”The page is served through Shopify’s app proxy, which wraps it in your own theme — your header, your footer, your fonts and colours. It is served from your own domain, not from a third-party site, so links to it are links to you.
What’s on it
Section titled “What’s on it”The title, date, author and category; the featured image; the body content; and a Back to Press Releases link.
That back-link points at whatever you set as the Listing page URL in the app’s Settings. If it goes somewhere unexpected, that setting is why — see Set up your press page.
The listing URL is not a detail page
Section titled “The listing URL is not a detail page”/apps/press-release with no slug returns 404 on purpose. The listing lives on your own Shopify page — typically /pages/press-releases — so that you can build around it with other theme sections.
Link people to your page, never to /apps/press-release.
Changing a slug breaks the URL
Section titled “Changing a slug breaks the URL”The slug is the URL. Change it and the old address 404s, with no redirect.
Settle slugs before publicising a release. If you must change one after the fact, and the old URL was circulated, you can add a redirect under Online Store → Navigation → URL Redirects in your Shopify admin.
Redirected releases
Section titled “Redirected releases”If a release has Redirect to source ticked, its detail page sends visitors to the external URL instead of rendering. See Linking to an external source.
Sharing
Section titled “Sharing”Because the page is on your own domain and inside your own theme, it can be shared anywhere — a press email, a social post, a wire service. What a preview shows is controlled by the SEO fields.
