Troubleshooting
Work down this list in order — it is arranged with the most common cause first.
My listing page is empty
Section titled “My listing page is empty”The single most common report. In order of likelihood:
- The block was never added. Installing the app does not create a press page. Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize, navigate to your press page, and add the Press Releases block. See Set up your press page.
- The block is on a different page than the one you’re looking at. The theme editor’s page selector must be showing the same page you’re testing.
- You have no releases yet. Add one.
- Every release is dated in the future. The block hides those by default. Check the dates. See Dates and scheduling.
- You didn’t Save in the theme editor.
A specific release isn’t showing
Section titled “A specific release isn’t showing”- Its date is in the future. Working as intended; it appears when the date arrives.
- It didn’t save. Check the app’s release list, and Content → Metaobjects in your Shopify admin.
- A category filter is active on the storefront and the release is in a different category.
- A search term is active that doesn’t match its title.
The “Back to Press Releases” link goes to the wrong place
Section titled “The “Back to Press Releases” link goes to the wrong place”The Listing page URL in the app’s Settings is wrong or empty. Set it to your listing page — usually /pages/press-releases.
A detail page 404s
Section titled “A detail page 404s”- The slug changed. The slug is the URL, and there’s no automatic redirect. Add one under Online Store → Navigation → URL Redirects if the old link was circulated.
- You’re visiting
/apps/press-releasewith no slug. That 404s deliberately — the listing lives on your own page. See The detail page. - The release was deleted.
Clicking a card goes somewhere unexpected
Section titled “Clicking a card goes somewhere unexpected”- Detail page URL is set on the block. Clear it — blank uses the app’s own detail page.
- The release has Redirect to source ticked. See Linking to an external source.
The block looks wrong against my theme
Section titled “The block looks wrong against my theme”The Show more button ships with real colours (blue background, white text) while everything else inherits. Set the button colours to match your theme — see Block settings reference.
For anything else, don’t patch it with theme CSS. Contact support with your theme name.
Search doesn’t find an older release
Section titled “Search doesn’t find an older release”Search runs over the releases already loaded on the page. If only the first six are loaded, only those are searched.
Raise Items per load on the block, or press Show more before searching. Setting Load the next releases to load on scroll doesn’t help here — search covers what is loaded either way.
Saving a release does nothing
Section titled “Saving a release does nothing”- Check every required field: title, slug, date, author, category, description, content. A required field left blank blocks the save, and the field itself shows the message.
- Your session may have expired. Reload the app inside your Shopify admin and try again.
If a save fails with no message at all, that’s a bug — please report it.
Formatting a word saved my release
Section titled “Formatting a word saved my release”That was a bug in an earlier version, where toolbar buttons inside the form submitted it. If you’re seeing it, tell us your app version — see Contact support.
Author or category is empty after editing
Section titled “Author or category is empty after editing”An older bug where the dropdown submitted an empty value. Re-pick the field and save. If it recurs, report it — it should be fixed.
Categories are duplicated on the storefront filter
Section titled “Categories are duplicated on the storefront filter”The filter matches exact text, so Product and Products are two categories. Renaming in Settings doesn’t rewrite existing releases — open the affected ones and re-pick. See Authors and categories.
Still stuck
Section titled “Still stuck”Contact support with your store domain, a link to the page, and what you expected.
