Authors and categories
Author and Category are required on every release. Both are saved lists you manage in Settings, so you pick from a menu rather than retyping.
Why this matters
Section titled “Why this matters”Categories drive the category filter on your storefront listing. That filter matches on the exact text, so Product and Products are two different categories and a visitor filtering by one will not see the other.
Keeping a saved list is what stops that happening.
Managing the lists
Section titled “Managing the lists”Open Settings in the app. Add, rename or remove authors and categories there. They then appear in the dropdowns on every release.
Choosing categories
Section titled “Choosing categories”Keep the list short — five or six is usually plenty. A filter with twenty entries is harder to use than no filter at all.
Categories that tend to work:
Company— corporate announcements, appointments, results.Product— launches and updates.Partnership— deals and collaborations.Awards— recognition and certifications.
Categories that tend not to: anything that matches every release (News), and anything so specific it applies once (Q3 2026 earnings call).
Choosing authors
Section titled “Choosing authors”The author is who issued the release, not who typed it. For most stores that is the company or a department — GISL Communications, Press Office — rather than an individual.
Use a person’s name where a named spokesperson is the point.
Renaming
Section titled “Renaming”Renaming an entry in Settings changes the list you pick from. It does not rewrite releases already saved with the old value.
So after renaming a category, open the affected releases and re-pick it — otherwise your storefront filter has both the old and new spellings, which is the exact problem the saved list exists to prevent.
Before you publish much
Section titled “Before you publish much”Settle both lists early. Reorganising four releases is a few minutes; reorganising forty is an afternoon.
