What this app does
GISL Press Kit adds a press room to your Shopify store. You write releases in your admin the way you’d write a product description, and they appear on your storefront as a searchable list plus a page for each release.
No theme code, no developer, no separate CMS.

A 90-second tour: writing a release, publishing it, and styling the list in your theme editor.
The two storefront pieces
Section titled “The two storefront pieces”| The listing page | A page on your store — typically /pages/press-releases — showing every release as a card, with optional search and category filtering. You create the page; the app provides a block you drop onto it. |
| The detail page | One page per release, at /apps/press-release/<slug>. The app renders it inside your own theme, so it inherits your header, footer and styling. You don’t create these — they exist for every release automatically. |
What you can put in a release
Section titled “What you can put in a release”Title, slug, date, author, category, a short description and the body content, plus a featured image. Optionally SEO title and description, a featured flag that badges the card, and a link to an external source.
See The release fields for what each one does.
Where your content lives
Section titled “Where your content lives”In your own Shopify store, as a press_release metaobject — not in a database belonging to this app. The app stores no merchant content of its own.
That has two practical consequences worth knowing up front:
- Your releases are yours, visible in your Shopify admin under Content, and they survive independently of the app.
- The app asks for narrow permissions, because it only needs to read and write those metaobjects and upload files.
What it does not do
Section titled “What it does not do”- It does not edit your theme’s files. The listing block is a Shopify app block you add and remove from the theme editor. Uninstalling leaves nothing behind. See Uninstalling.
- It does not create a listing page for you. You create one Shopify page and add the block to it — this is deliberate, so you can put other theme sections above and below it. See Set up your press page.
- It is not a blog. Shopify’s own blog handles articles and comments. This is for press releases: dated, categorised, attributed announcements.
Work through Set up your press page once, then publish your first release.
